I can’t help but think we are near the breaking point.  No, I don’t mean the point at which we plunge into a second civil war – I’ll leave that kind of prognostication to others.  I mean we are nearing the point at which a majority of people finally say enough to the stupidity of this neo-political correctness wrapped in the names of social justice, tolerance, and intersectionality.

Just take the events of the last couple weeks.

First, the folks at Slate kicked things off by pointing to a recent crusade amongst SJWs (social justice warriors) at the Atlantic.  What is it?  Oh I’ll just let them explain it to you:

“[O]ne of the most pressing linguistic problems of our age: the lack of a widely accepted gender-neutral second-person plural pronoun. For years, women and trans and gender-nonconforming folks have dreaded the jocular guys that is the distressingly universal choice when attempting to casually address a group of people. As the Atlantic’s Joe Pinsker writes, guys is a “word with an originally male meaning that is frequently used to refer to people who don’t [identify as such],” and as linguistic norms shift away from their historically male center, you guys is facing a well-deserved phaseout.”

The SJWs have settled on “y’all” as their, as Slate called it, “salvation from the sexist, bro-y tyranny of ‘you guys.’”  What percentage of the general population stews over and contemplates on these kinds of dilemmas?  I can’t be sure of exact numbers but I’m guessing it is a much smaller number than the percentage of the general population that is extremely annoyed by this kind of nonsense.

Meanwhile, just days later we had the Dean of Brown University pulling peer-reviewed, scientific research on Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria from their website.  And why did it have to be scrubbed, given that it was based on scientific reality?  Because it may:

“…invalidate perspectives of the transgender community.”

Brown University is committed, they say, to “diversity and inclusion.”  It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that doesn’t include diversity of thought and inclusion of scientific reality.  And this is a supposedly prestigious university, now apparently engaging in book – or journal – burning to protect their ideological dogma.

And as if that all wasn’t enough, as Brown University was burning books, or scientific journals, Nabisco was getting pilloried for their animal crackers.  After ceding to the demands of the social justice mob and removing the “cages” from the artwork on the front of their cracker boxes, left-wing tabloid Vox made it clear that wasn’t enough:

“The new Nabisco animal crackers art doesn’t address any of the underlying issues about ethics, exploitation, and corporate greed.”

This is the mentality of progressivism: it’s never enough.  Even for drawings of gorillas on a package of cookies.  Any thought that compromise or middle ground with the left is possible is in complete error.  Everything is a stepping stone to the next outrage, the next cause, the next demand – regardless of how divorced from sanity it may be.

I could be wrong, but I just can’t imagine rational people suffering this kind of thing much longer.
