One of the problems facing a society that abandons moral expectations for sexual behavior is that there is no stopping point to the behaviors that become normal. The “logic” breaks down very quickly into an anything goes mentality because the standard is flawed. Drawing lines anywhere will label someone a bigot, a homophobe, intolerant, or an opponent of individual liberty, etc.
A prominent scientist and popular anchor for CNN has been making the case that people with certain sexual orientations are born that way, something we have all heard as justification for societal endorsement of the “gay” agenda. While this scientist and psychologist with the Sexual Behaviors Clinic of the Center for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto is an open homosexual, this is not what he is talking about.
James Cantor, writing for CNN recently claimed during the Jerry Sandusky trial, “It appears that one can be born with a brain predisposed to experience sexual arousal in response to children.” Cantor believes that, “science suggests that they are people who, through no fault of their own, were born with a sex drive that they must continuously resist, without exception, throughout their entire lives. Little if any assistance is ever available for them.”
Notice next how he then used his science to call for social change involving more sympathy and acceptance of this sexual orientation. “Pedophilic men have significantly less white matter, which is the connective tissue that is responsible for communication between different regions in the brain . . .We will do more good by making it easier for pedophiles to come in for help rather than force them into solitary secrecy,” says Cantor.
There is already a new term in place for these predispositions floating around called MAP - “minor attracted persons.” Last year in Baltimore, a symposium held by a “minor-attracted people” advocacy group called B4U-ACT was held to disseminate “accurate information” on the position that pedophilia is just one more alternative sexual orientation. Guest speakers, which included experts from Johns Hopkins and the University of Texas, urged the removal of pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s list of mental defects in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
This was the same strategy that was used by homosexual activists in the 1970s when same-sex attractions were removed from the APA’s list of disorders. Eventually, the acceptance of homosexuality as just another lifestyle, the promotion of “gay marriage,” lessons in public schools promoting homosexuality, and the allowing of open homosexuality in the U.S. military resulted.
America should be very concerned about the Pandora’s box it has opened with a distorted view of tolerance and postmodernism in which moral truth is left up to the individual or to “science.” When we discard morality and find excuses for previously shunned behaviors we travel down a very dangerous path and it always seems as though children wind up suffering the most.
