Remember when liberals told us in the 90s that Bill Clinton’s perjury wasn’t impeachable because it wasn’t about anything serious – just sex? They said things like, “Now if this was about willingly and knowingly trampling the Constitution, then we’d be willing to talk impeachment.” Really? How about now, then?
There are so many things wrong with the President’s recent decision to issue de-facto amnesty to a group of illegal immigrants, it’s tough to start addressing them. But we have to. There are many people who will only know what they’re told on CNN if you and I don’t point out some of these fairly obvious, startling, and outrageous realities of his actions. So let’s start with the most alarming: the president has willingly trampled the Constitution with his action...again.
Victor Davis Hanson
puts it this way:
Legally, President Obama has reiterated the principle that he can pick and choose which U.S. laws he wishes to enforce (see his decision to reverse the order of the Chrysler creditors, his decision not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, and his administration’s contempt for national-security confidentiality and Senate and House subpoenas to the attorney general). If one individual can decide to exempt nearly a million residents from the law — when he most certainly could not get the law amended or repealed through proper legislative or judicial action — then what can he not do?
That’s precisely right. Can you even imagine the outrage and screaming from everyone from the ACLU to MSNBC if George Bush had done something so flagrantly violative of his role as Chief Executive? Remember that Barack Obama actually campaigned against what he called Bush’s tendencies to go beyond the limits of the Constitution in his actions. Each of those examples Obama would cite were arguable at best. Yet here is Obama himself, simply picking and choosing which laws are acceptable enough for him to enforce. Unreal.
A second alarming reality about this action that can’t be lost is the economic disaster it will bring. Back to Hanson:
Economically, why would we formalize nearly a million new legally authorized workers when unemployment is approaching its 41st consecutive month over 8 percent — especially when Democrats used to label 5.4 percent unemployment as a “jobless recovery”? Here in California, the slowing of illegal immigration, due mostly to the fence and tough times, has led to steep wage hikes for entry-level and farm labor, and given a little more clout to Americans in so-called unskilled-labor fields. In other words, it really is true that the real beneficiaries of border enforcement are low-paid Hispanic-Americans and African-Americans who become more valued when they are not competing with virtually unlimited numbers of illegal-alien workers.

The LA Times noted the staggeringly high rate of unemployment among young workers in America. You know, the wet-behind-the-ears college aged demographic who so exuberantly supported The One in his first campaign. Now they struggle to take any scraps they can from the employment table. The ObamaZombies are now suffering through an economy that simply isn’t opening up to them.
As a result, college graduates are shackled with shocking debt – the result of government artificially inflating the costs of a college degree with their loan programs – and can’t find steady work to help them begin to pay it down. Obama’s solution is to flood that already depressed job market with illegal immigrants – simply because he wants to win the Hispanic vote by a wide margin (which, as Hanson noted, Hispanics who use their brains will recognize this policy is not in their best interest at all). These college grads are basking in the hope and change they helped inflict upon us. What a pity.
