Listen

A couple weeks ago, I covered the powerful message that was delivered by Catholic Bishop Daniel Jenky in which he made parallels to the historical path taken by Hitler and Stalin (and the disrespect for life they fostered), and the one being blazed for America by current progressive leaders, including President Obama.

At the time, I wondered how long it would be before the left would retreat behind the pathetically lame argument: “He’s calling Obama Hitler!” and demand consequences for Jenky’s “irresponsibility.”

A group of professors at the University of Notre Dame (you know, the Catholic university so devoted to the Bible’s teaching on the sanctity of human life they invited a man who believes it’s a “legitimate medical procedure” to stab a half-delivered child to death with scissors, or that it’s legally permissible to leave fully delivered children to die in hospital closets to speak at their graduation) didn’t let me down:

[F]ifty faculty members penned a letter Friday to university president Fr. John Jenkins and board chair Richard Notebaert claiming the charge was “profoundly offensive.”

“Bishop Jenky’s comments demonstrate ignorance of history, insensitivity to victims of genocide, and absence of judgment,” the professors wrote.

Bishop Jenky is a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross, which founded Notre Dame, and he is the sole bishop on both Notre Dame’s board of trustees and board of fellows.

Nice to see that the brilliant profs at Notre Dame consider Jenky’s accurate portrayal of history to be “ignorance of history.”  That should make all the parents shelling out $50,000 for their kids to get a ND education feel really good.  And add to that how reassuring it is that these geniuses see a man standing up for the plight of the unborn – actively calling for an end to the American genocide and a renewed respect for the unalienable right to life (you know, that Declaration of Independence thing) – is insensitive to victims of genocide.

Good grief.

To the esteemed professoriate of the University of Notre Dame, it is “profoundly offensive” to a great number of Christians who actually believe in the authority of God’s Word and His omniscience over all things – including politics – that the president you defend holds such an anti-Biblical, anti-Christian, and yes, anti-Catholic worldview that millions of children have suffered the murderous crime of abortion on his approving watch.

If you can’t see that, God help you, and God help ol’ Notre Dame.
