There is a God, and we aren't Him. There is right and wrong, and we don't make it up for ourselves, we discover it in Natural Law. These are the principles that demand a verdict. Either they are right or they are wrong. Either we will use them as the backbone of our civilization, or we will not. For two centuries we did use them, we did believe them, we did promote them, and the consequences and outcomes speak for themselves.
If we abandon them, that is our prerogative. But there will be consequences for that as well. And if you'd like to see what kind, just take a look at this shocking story, reported by The Blaze:

Two bioethicists ? one from Duke University, the other from the National Institute of Health ? bring up the question "What makes killing wrong?" in the latest issue of the Journal of Medical Ethics. Using their definition of killing, the authors conclude if the person is "universally and irreversibly disabled" and has "no abilities to lose" then killing them to take organs for donation in order to save the lives of others should not be considered morally wrong.
As shocking as this may seem to your conscience, it was totally necessary and expected when you consider the philosophical arguments that we have accepted already in this country. We allow women to kill their children because we decide that life doesn't start until the point of birth. We rationalize away the very definitions of humanity and soothe our consciences with philosophical fluff as we rip the spinal cords from babies in their fetal stage of development. We are butchers, but are attempting to portray ourselves as civilized butchers.
That's what this argument is about. We don't value human life for what it is, anymore. We stopped that the moment we started having all these discussions about abortion for children to be born with disabilities - mental or physical. That was deemed a life not worth living. We deemed it that so that we could satisfy our selfish desires. And it's coming back to bite us.
The Christian worldview teaches that every human life is sacred because it bears the image of the Creator. Therefore it doesn't matter what that being can or can't do - or how much that being needs assistance or how much they rely on others. They are precious because they bear God's likeness. But the atheist/humanist left taught us that we can't base our civilization off Christian principles, and replaced that ethic with the post modern belief that life is valuable only for what it can do. If it is handicapped, or is "lacking abilities," it can have its organs harvested and be discarded. In the final analysis, that is the left's view of humanity's worth. It's where we're headed with these people. Just how bad does it get?
"[I]f killing were wrong just because it is causing death or the loss of life, then the same principle would apply with the same strength to pulling weeds out of a garden. If it is not immoral to weed a garden, then life as such cannot really be sacred, and killing as such cannot be morally wrong."
Human life is as valuable as weeds. This is what has happened under countless leftist regimes the world over: from Hitler to Stalin to Mao. It's what happens when another of the left's thought masters, Darwinism, comes to be applied to society. If the weaker species can't defend themselves, they are a burden and are to be removed. The gas chambers of Hitler started in Berlin as a theory put on paper. Now we're seeing the same thing develop here in this country as we move further to the left and reject the fundamental principles that have separated us from this disaster.
These incidents are only going to grow more numerous in the West as we abandon the Judeo-Christian foundation and move towards the left. Don't believe me?
The issue, however, isn't an isolated incident. The Blaze has recently published articles about a disabled man in the U.K. who is seeking the "right" to die and a 3-year-old whose parents were told she couldn't have kidney transplant because she was "mentally retarded." And last year, we posted the disturbing video of a British advice columnist who said if a child were disabled a loving mother would "put a pillow over its face" to smother it.
With the left in charge, and the left's religion coming to replace Christianity in the West, life is becoming nothing but a mere product or machine part. The consequences are already unfolding.
