In order to be moved to action by what I write, you need to know a little bit about me.  My wife and myself both started working for a small church-school over twenty years ago.  (We were married the first week in August 1991, and began teaching in the third week.)  Furthermore, we are both founding members of our local TEA Party.  We are blessed with an awesome 15 year old boy and a great church family.  I tell people, "I am the luckiest man on Earth!"  What's more...I really believe it.

Being an educator and history freak, I often wonder how America became such a great power before politicians took over education.  How did our citizens get an education without the federal government micromanaging our nation's schools?  If you would listen to most politicians and educators today, you would have to conclude that American schools of the past were complete failures.  After all, how could a child get an education if politicians didn't pour money into schools?  (By the way, I am also sarcastic and tactless.)  Is it possible that money is not the real problem?  Is it possible that we have been focusing on the wrong thing for years?

I know I do not have a state license to teach, and I was not formally trained to instruct young minds.  Furthermore, I did not learn how to be a school administrator from the state university elite.  And most importantly, the school I run does not receive one penny from the state treasury.  The same testimony could be given by hundreds of educators who are doing great things for our children - all without government assistance.  My lack of "proper" credentials is my best credential.  We need people to think beyond the educational elite's "reforms", and champion common-sense reforms that are being put in place with remarkable success.

I have a great desire to see Biblical educational reform sweep across this nation.  The secret that the mainstream media does not want to get out is the fact that there are small church schools and homeschool networks already functioning at a high level throughout the nation, and especially here in Indiana.  These renegade educators are turning out students with a well-rounded education for a fraction of the cost of the government schools.

I am grateful for the opportunity Peter is giving me to be a voice in the Culture War that is raging in our nation.  I whole-heartedly agree with his call to reform the church, government, and public education system in this nation.  My prayer is that children will one day be taught that they are here for a purpose that is greater than them.  Until we can teach every child that he came from God, he is here for His glory, and he is going to spend eternity somewhere, we are going to continue our national slide into the trash heap of human history.  Please join us in the war for the heart and soul of this nation!
